For students who need accommodations, the most important person is the teacher. You are the one that models an accommodation, talks about it, and creates a community of learning. If a kid needs glasses, we wouldn't take them away for an exam. The same goes with extra time or calculators. These are accommodations that make it possible for some students to participate.
